About FOSSC

Located at one end of the longest village green in England, the sailing club is idyllically set. The lake is an old gravel pit with 40 acres of available sailing area. Regular club racing is organised on most Sundays throughout the year, offering a mixture of general handicap, pursuit and class racing. Class racing is takes place for Mirrors, Solos, Enterprises, Toppers, Lasers and Optimists. Several race series are run throughout the year offering an easy qualification route for the end of year prize giving. Roughly one Sunday per month from March to October a round of the Club Championship is held from which the overall club champion is crowned.

Wednesdays a race is arranged to start at 6.30pm through the summer and this too is a mixture of handicap and class racing. The bar is open after sailing and hot food is available from the galley.

Saturdays are used mainly for teaching. The club runs RYA dinghy sailing courses for beginners upwards and the occasional powerboat course. The courses are run strictly for members but as membership is at reasonable rates courses are often over-subscribed.

The Club has also provides sailing opportunities in line with the national Sailability scheme.More

At all times the facilities are available for the members to sail at their leisure.

Each year the club organises a taster day when anyone can come along to the club and try their hand at sailing. More
