What is it?
Junior Week is for sailors aged 10-18, held in the second week of the summer holidays.

The week is led by two Senior Sailing Instructors, plus a team of volunteer coaches, all of whom are Junior Week veterans themselves its a testament to the huge amount of fun that they come back each year to do it again!
My daughters love Junior Week, it is the highlight of their year! They talk about it far more than any other activities or camps they do. Their personal confidence, self-reliance and problem solving skills have blossomed thanks to Junior Week.

Theres a theme, with fancy dress day…

(2024 was Tropical Week!)
…and lots and lots of games and activities giving the all-important opportunity to earn points for your team!

(2023 was Space!)
Other themes have been Superheroes, Movies, Pirates, Romans…

We have a big marquee and plenty of activities ready to go when the weather means we cant be on the water…
But obviously, we try to get outside as much as possible there are so many options!

Lots and lots of smiles!

And lots of getting wet!

Some Capsizing! but with multiple safety boats on hand, keeping everyone safe.

Theres loads of fun to be had, messing about on boats!

I think junior week is a really fun week where you can both improve your sailing skills and make new friends.

This was my first junior week at this club and I really enjoyed it

And its not just fun for the juniors! Its free camping all week at the club for anyone who would like to, with 24hr access to the clubhouse showers and kitchen.

Many families stay for the week, and treat it as a holiday! We also have a BYO BBQ during the week where all members are invited.
To keep costs low, parents are allocated duty sessions as helpers and are asked to provide the all-important cakes!

In 2026 the cost will be £135 for members £175 for non-members for 5 days of fun, including their hoodie. Similar weeks elsewhere are £600+!
One thing Ive really noticed is that because they get to do some crazy stuff in Junior Week (who knew it was possible to sail a topper with 6 people on board!?) they learn they can handle a boat in situations far outside the norm… so when something goes slightly awry when sailing normally, theyre much calmer and better prepared. They know they can handle whatever comes up, because theyve had the opportunity to really test the boundaries, in a safe, fun, supportive environment!

Juniors do need to have a minimum competency level to take part so please get them signed up for the Spring Learn To Sail courses (theyre really good value!) if this sounds like fun!!
