Optimist Course (IOCA)
The course is an informal introduction to sailing using the IOCA scheme. Sailors should be at least 7 years old and under 12. This course is aimed to bring the very young sailor up through the IOCA sailing system. By the end of the course, it is hoped to award an IOCA Grade certificate to all successful candidates depending on the level of skill achieved.
Training takes place on Sunday Mornings and is taught by RYA qualified instructors in groups with a maximum ratio of 6 students to each instructor. How to book
All training is booked via WebCollect - you should have received a login with your membership. When logged in, you will be able to see all the available courses, book onto them, and pay securely.
(If you're not a member, this is also where you pay for membership - and you can see all the different prices for Single, Junior, Family Membership etc. Just email Mark Bargewell at membership@fossc.org.uk who will forward an application form to you). Family membership (which includes all under 18s in the household) is only marginally more than a single adult membership - so well worth joining as a family!
